The background to Wessex Well
The Order of Jacob's Well was inaugurated in 1997 by its Patron, Rowan Williams (who is now the Archbishop of Canterbury), with the mission to seek out, train and encourage those called to the healing ministry of the Church. Particularly in the last two years the order has seen many miracles of healing, both at its healing centre in Cwmbran and at the various "Wells", or small healing groups, around the UK.
The fast growing and non-denominational Order of Healing and Wholeness is led by the Revd. Mike Endicott. Although based in South Wales, it also works throughout the UK as well as Africa and the USA. The Order holds regular 3-4 day ministry training schools at Llangasty, in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, together with teaching days in various locations in England and Wales. Both clergy and lay people are able to become licensed into the Order via an extended period of training and study, thus enabling them to bring the Ministry of Healing back to their own communities.
Earlier last year a small group of licensed ministers in the Order met to discuss the possiblity of holding healing services in the Wessex area. Mike Endicott has given us his blessing to form a "Well" in this area, hence the "Wessex Well" was created.
We feel touched by the aching compassion of Jesus Christ for His needy ones - those in pain or diseased, those hurting in body, mind or spirit. We believe that Jesus longs for us to minister to those in need of healing and wholeness, and to bring them to His peace and healing love. He has given us the tools, His Power and Authority, and shown us how to do it, see Mark 11 v 22-26. There is no excuse, therefore, not to do His work and will.
Our main services are the beautiful and gentle Celtic Healing Service, and the more outgoing Christ The Healer service which incorporates the laying on of hands. Our philosophy is based on looking at how Jesus healed, how He commanded His discuples to "go out", heal the sick and tell them that the Kingdom of God has come to them!
